Chances are somewhere in the back of your bathroom cabinet is a bottle of Aloe Vera Gel. As it is most people’s go to when they want something to soothe their sunburn, it is essentially Aloe Vera season. We here are Driven Sports are big fans of this gel, but not just for topical purposes, we are bigger fans of drinking Aloe Vera gel.
First off, do not drink Aloe Vera topical gel, there are gels made specifically for ingestion. The Aloe Vera leaf is a thick, cactus like leaf that when cut open has a gel filet, which is where all the good stuff is. When people think of drinking Aloe, they think of the juice, not the gel but they are missing out on a lot of health benefits.
When ingested, Aloe Vera Gel can improve the following conditions:
- Reduce blood sugar levels
- Strong anti-inflammatory
- Enhance learning and memory
- Improve digestive issues including Crohn’s, IBS, and Ulcerative Colitis
- Good anti-oxidant properties
You can check the studies related to the different claims above, but it seems that Aloe Vera Gel can be a great addition to most people’s daily regimen, especially if you suffer from any of the conditions listed above?
So why isn’t drinking this gel more popular? We have two theories; first people tend to get overloaded on natural supplements that claim to address a wide range of conditions. It seems that every month a new natural cure for everything comes out; people jump on it and then move onto the next thing when their expectations are not met. We are not saying that Aloe Vera gel is a cure all, but it is a solid natural addition to your daily arsenal.
Our second theory is that drinking the gel is kind of gross. You will slurp down about shot glass worth of what looks like old school hair gel. That is simply not palatable to most people (although you can turn it into a fun party trick). Presentation matters, people are much more likely to take a pill or drink a normal liquid, which is also why you hear about Aloe Vera juice more than the gel. Simply put you are missing out on a lot of the properties of the plant by choosing the juice over the gel.
Aloe Vera gel is a worthy addition to your daily health regimen. We believe in it so much that we are providing you this information with no intentions to sell any Aloe Vera gel products, we just think more people should consider products, whether they be ours or others, that improve their quality of life. Hopefully you consider trying it out.
